Marie Arana is Senior Executive Producer on CSPAN’s forthcoming America’s Book Club
David Rubenstein hosts conversations with leading authors at iconic American libraries and landmarks on a brand new prime-time national show this Fall on C-SPAN.
In October 2025, C-SPAN will launch America’s Book Club, a dynamic new weekly primetime television series created by Marie Arana and hosted by best-selling author, civic leader, and master interviewer David M. Rubenstein.
America’s Book Club will be held before live audiences at some of the nation’s most beloved cultural landmarks— repositories of our nation’s history and ideas—including the Library of Congress, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Enoch Pratt Library, and the National Archives. Each week, viewers will be invited into revealing, thought-provoking conversations with leading cultural figures—exploring the ideas that have shaped America’s past, challenged the present, and inspired our future.
Guests and historic venues for the opening season include:
- John Grisham at the Library of Congress
- David Grann at the Folger Shakespeare Library
- Arthur Brooks at the Library of Congress
- Walter Isaacson at the National Archives
- Jodi Picoult at the Folger Shakespeare Library
- Stacy Schiff at the National Archives
- Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett at the Library of Congress
- Cal Ripken at the Enoch Pratt Library
- Henry Louis Gates at the Library of Congress
- Jose Andres at the Library of Congress
“Books provide the foundation of American ideals, progress, and vision,” said Rubenstein. “Since I was a youngster growing up in Baltimore, books have fueled my imagination and knowledge. I look forward to sharing these ideas with others.”
“This new program is the culmination of a vision I’ve had throughout my career as author, editor, and literary director,” says Marie Arana. “We want to hear how our most distinguished authors got where they are, where their inspiration came from, what drives their work.”
America’s Book Club will be a key component of C-SPAN’s America 250 programming, a network-wide, multi-platform initiative dedicated to honoring, exploring and celebrating the 250th birthday of the nation.
